Oh. My. Gosh.
This week, is shark week on Discovery Channel. It’s arguably the best week of the year — with the exception of Christmas and maybe a week spent on the beach in the winter when you know it’s snowing tons at home.
The Goblin Shark is the latest underwater killer making headlines – and it is just freaky! Like something out of aliens, the shark’s prostrusible jaws appear to leap out of its throat to kill its prey.
You need to see it to believe it! Watch the video below:
That’s the stuff nightmares are made of! But it’s sort of cool at the same time.
The Goblin Shark is found in deep in the ocean, at depths greater than 200 meters, according to Wikipedia. They prey on deep sea squid, crabs, and a variety of deep-sea fish. Little is known about the species’ life history, as encounters with Goblin Sharks are relatively rare. They’ve been caught off the coast of Japan, Australia and New Zealand in the Pacific Ocean, and off French Guiana, Portugal and the Gulf of Mexico in the Atlantic.
Shark week continues tonight on Discovery, with a countdown of the ’10 Deadliest Sharks.’
