Rudy Giuliani’s Daughter Caroline Busted for Shoplifting

By James Sheldon on August 5th, 2010

These are the ones that I don’t get.

Remember when Winona Ryder was busted for shoplifting and claimed that she was “researching for a role.”

Caroline Giuliani, the semi-estranged daughter of former New York City Mayor and super-Republican, Rudolph Giuliani, was arrested yesterday for attempting to shoplift over $100 in cosmetics from a Sephora in Manhattan. The asinininity (new word = asinine nature) of such an attempted pull is beyond me. Beyond.

What makes this an even better story of the WTF variety, is the fact that Caroline Giuliani is a student at Harvard. Yeah, yeah, yeah, I’m pinning a stereotype here, but aren’t Harvard students smarter than this? No, I’m not saying they’re not criminals, I’m just saying they’re the really smart criminals who get away with crime–especially when it’s petty theft.

The thing that sucks for Caroline is the fact that she could just introduce herself as Caroline when meeting new folks–folks unfamiliar with her face. Nobody would have put her face with papa’s. I certainly wouldn’t have, and I lived there for a large chunk of Giuliani’s reign as NYC Mayor.

Unfortunately for Caroline Giuliani, she’s now going to be referred to as Rudy’s daughter who prefers to shop with the five finger discount. Store security caught her via closed-circuit security camera, as she stuffed the expensive cosmetics into her pockets. Among the items she was stealing, a Bliss moisturizer, a Dior Skin Primer…and a hairnet.

Though she’s not the biggest fan of her pops, the Sephora store employees stated they would not press charges once they found out who she was.

These are the one's I don't get. The ONES I don't get are the alleged journalists who slap an apostrophe in willy-nilly -- or the alleged editors who don't catch screw-ups like this.
