LILY!!!
Eddie’s getting married!
This has got to be one of the most unabashedly romantic stories I have ever heard. It’s got the perfect amount of cheese, sap and sincerity to make your little heart swell and burst.
Or if you’re a dude writing for Manolith, it’s so freakin’ awesome that Eddie Munster is getting hitched to a former Phildelphia Eagles cheerleader! Not bad for a young werewolf…which is what Eddie was–though I always thought he was a Vampire-Werewolf mixed-breed.
Stereotypes aside, Donna McCall was a huge fan of the hit TV show “The Munsters” back in the 60s, and as a fan of the show, she naturally wrote fan letters to her childhood crush, Butch Patrick, who played Eddie.
I have always loved Butch Patrick for his willingness to embrace this chapter of his life, and his willingness to smile when d-bags like myself call him Eddie Munster in public. Regardless, Butch carried on a correspondence with McCall in 1964, during the show’s first season.
After the show ended, life happened, but a few years ago McCall reached out to Patrick once again, this time via email. After staying in touch for quite some time, the two agreed to meet at this year’s DraculaCon II. After having known one another for years, they finally met, a whirlwind romance began, and not long after, Butch popped the question. Donna said yes, of course. These two crazy kids have set up home together in West Chester, PA.
