The View: Obama is a Liar According to Elisabeth Hasselbeck

By AAyles on July 29th, 2010

President Barack Obama made his much anticipated appearance on today’s episode of The View and Elisabeth Hasselbeck took every opportunity to stump the new President.

The controversial host stayed quiet for most of the interview but, when she did open her mouth, she spewed out the same BS that she’s been doing since Obama began his run for President.

The most interesting part of Barack’s appearance on the show was when Elisabeth looked the president in the eye and told him he was misleading the public to believe that jobs are increasing when, in fact, she didn’t believe they were.

Needless to say, Obama defended the statements he’s made regarding job increases and Elisabeth shut her mouth (at least temporarily).

Only Elisabeth Hasselbeck would ask such a biased question without properly researching the information she’s questioning. The question itself wasn’t completely unacceptable (after all, most right republicans are probably sitting at home thinking the same thing) but it was her condescending attitude that surprised most.

Have some class Elisabeth and treat other people with respect. Although, if you haven’t done it in the first 33 years of your life, what would make you change now?

What did you think of Elisabeth on The View today?

I watched her ask this question. It was not biased and she was in no way disrespectful. If anything, Obama was condescending towards her. It's amazing how you can turn something completely valid and appropriate into something "disrespectful." You don't think Obama should be challenged on national television?

Elisabeth, Has her mind made up, as many Republicans do, so no matter what the president accomplishes, it will not be enough. She wasn't complaining during the 8 years of the last presidency, so why complain now when he is treying to clean up the mess that he inherite

Elisabeth should put more effort in her research. Elisabeth repeats what ever is expressed by Rush and other extreme right political groups. It is sad to think that someone who is frequently in the limelight is so intolerent of other people and their views and a mindless puppet of the self centered extreme right.

I watched the View too - In the interest of full disclosure I can't stand Elizabeth. I think she so rightous, and self agrandizing that she turns my stomach. I don't think she was any more disrespectful to the President than she is to any one else who doesn't agree with her...but she certainly wasn't respectful. And for the record Elisabeth I work for a public school system and my job was one that was saved. The school system I work for was very clear with all of us that were it not for the stimulus money we would be unemployed. She reminds me of a snippey teeager who thinks the she is the cutest thing in she leather.

Your bias is obvious. Elisabeth Hasselbeck's point is a valid one. If you took the time to actually research Labor statistics, you would find that in the past year, the percentage of the American population which IS employed has declined from 59.4% to 58.5% The unemployment stat of 9.5% is erroneous, as it does not include those whom have given up looking for work.

I am consistently appalled by what Elisabeth has to say. I agree with some earlier posts that she needs to do her OWN research, and not rely on the opinions and statements of others to make her points. Certainly her question was appropriate, but once she asked it, I don't think she listened to the response. It's like someone asking a great question and then putting on earmuffs for the answer in fear of being informed.

Black and white, black and white. What are we discussing? The fact that Elisabeth sees everything in black and white, or the fact that she's so certain she's right that everyone else HAS TO be wrong? I'm on the west coast so I get to watch this in another 30 minutes. What I do know about Elisabeth Hasselbeck is the fact that she once wanted to become a shoe designer, played softball and was an adorably cute granola chick at B.C. If that Elisabeth saw this one, I don't think she'd like herself. I have no problem with her asking any question. But I have a problem with anyone believing in "percentages" based on flawed polls and statistics. As far as jobs go. There are jobs out there, people just don't want them because they can't support their chosen lifestyle.

OK. Now that I've watched it. Didn't see any problem with it. Thought Hasselbeck was actually quite charming and very respectful in addressing something in which they are in disagreement. Still wish she'd lose the tough exterior. She was just so much more enjoyable as the birkenstock wearing 20 something back in the day.

Elisabeth Hasselbeck need to be checked by Barbara for being outright rude to the President of the United States. I so despise her right-wing nuttery. I am outraged that she would stoop so low. She's no better than Joe Wilson. Blond bish!

Why did Obama even show up at the View. He should have been at the 100th Anniversary of the Boyscouts! Isn't talking to young upstanding young men more important than talking to a bunch of gossiping women. The last three Presidents attended, Eisenhower attended the 50th anniversary and many others have attended. So even though the Jamboree lasts over a week our President has more important things to do, i.e. attend a fund raiser and visit The View, instead of having time for 45,000 young boys. Good Choice Mr. President!

I seen parts of the interview and didn't think Elizabeth was too over the top. I think the President gave a very lengthy educated answer. Although as an indepdendent voter I do find it hilarious that Republicans all of a sudden care about the economy and job creation after they spent the previous decade just about ignoring it, the President should have pointed that out. Had Elizabeths party did their job in taking care of our countries economy while in power our country might be in better shape then it is today. So the hypocrisy is obvious by people who aren't partisan. And while the Democrats are nothing to call home, they have their oen problems, about at least they are making an effort to govern the country out of this mess while Republicans do nothing but sit on the sidelines throwing spit balls and harassing the current President every second of the day. Either start helping Govern the country or get out of government its that simple. When did the Republican party become the anti-intellectual party? Regardless of your politics one cant take away from the fact this President is a very skilled highly intellectual politican, and talking points like ones Elizabeth gives (and some on this comment section) are feather weight for people like him. Although I dont agree with all his policies he is an impressive and interresting individual, thats for sure.

The negative rederick began the day of the President's announcement to make a stab for the most powerful office in the once most one-sided country in the world. Organizations seems to have come out the woodwork in oposition of any thing that has been put on the table. Nothing has been done right and/or quickly enough or just plain enough period. Time and time again this President has tried to bring people together but to no avail. All indications point to the fact that this man is trying to do and in most cases is doing things for people that has not been done before and the ones that are against it cannot stand it bacause the power once held by a select few is being shifted. As far as Elizabeth is concerned...well bascially she is of very little concern. Just a puppet's strings being controlled by someone elses's mindset.

I am non-partisan. I look at candidates, make a call on their rhetoric and past actions, compare and place my vote. I can't recall my reasoning for voting (the first time) for the last IDIOT we had as President. I don't believe enough of his past was revealed until he was already in office. I now know that merely being Herbert's son should have sent up all kind of red flags! I voted for Mr Obama and am still impressed with his intelligence and efforts to get us out of the mess GW and his cronies left us in. I recently lost my job after 40yrs but do not blame it on our president, but on the right wing extremists that had been running the country, our economy, and our industries for the previous two terms, and are now trying to throw in a monkey wrench on all efforts to correct their negligence! I listened in on the conversations on "The View" today, What bothered me most was the that heckler (Elizabeth). Thought she was totally disrespectful of the man and the office he holds.

i FEEL ELIZABETH DID A GREAT INTERVIEW. THE PRESIDENT WAS ON THE VIEW TO PROMOTE HIS NEXT PRESIDENCY. AND FOR NO OTHER REASON. WHY WASN'T HE TAKING CARE OF THE U.S. AND JOBLESS SENIOR CITIZEN'S AMONG ALL THE PEOPLE OUT OF WORK FOR MONTH'S SOMETIME YEAR'S. UNEMPLOYMENT ISSUES HE NEVER REALLY ANSWERED HER QUESTION. ELIZABETH TRIED TO GET AN ANSWER BUT HE NEVER REALLY ANSERED THE QUESTION BECAUSE HE COULD NOT.

Cindy Sheehan says, "Kerry and Obama both supported more war. An “antiwar” movement de-legitimizes itself when it works hard for a candidate who does not promise total and rapid withdrawal of troops from wherever they happen to be at the time AND does not promise to end war as an imperial tool of corporate conquest". "Obama comes out strong with a new antiwar marketing campaign to assure his “re-election.” Even though not one progressive issue has been propagated during his term, these war supporters are looking forward to another four years of the dance of death. Right foot kill—left foot torture—spin around for environmental devastation—allemande left for health care fascism—and shimmy right for bankster bailouts. Wasn’t eight years of this crap during the Bush stain enough for y’all?" The majority of the so-called antiwar movement, in fact, voted for a candidate that PROMISED to contract one war only to be able to profoundly EXPAND another. Obama all along said that he is not against all war, just “dumb wars.” If there existed an antiwar movement that had integrity—it would have said that “all wars are dumb,” and we withhold our support for just another dyed-in-the-wool warmonger. @aayles ... oh, please -- if you have information (quantitative, undoctored, unbiased research data) that helps substantiate the President's claims and prove that the unemployment rate really is improving along with the GDP please, PLEASE share it. I have been researching this like crazy and have been unable to substantiate the President's claims. Everything I find indicates that maybe his statements are a fabrication of his PR/positioning team. I'd love to discover that he is, indeed, being truthful. I'm especially interested in this matter, given today's article in the President's White House Blog and the Secretary of the Treasury's public statement. I cannot substantiate their claims but want to believe that our nation is in recovery and that our national leaders are truthful men ... men of integrity. http://content.usatoday.com/communities/theoval/post/2010/08/obama-treasury-secretary-still-a-tough-economy-but-its-coming-back/1 ; http://www.whitehouse.gov/blog/2010/08/02/economy-perspective?utm_source=080310&utm_medium=blog&utm_campaign=daily .
