Ellen Degeneres knows a good thing coming to a slow, grinding, screeching halt.
She has turned in her decision to leave American Idol after only one season. After one season. Ellen Degeneres knows what a trainwreck is – a glistening, glittery trainwreck that has no indication or merit when actually picking talent. Seriously, what major talents have emerged from American Idol? Carrie Underwood and Kelly Clarkson? That’s about two. So they’re batting maybe at an 8 percent at best. It’s fine, I wouldn’t want to be judging any sort of contest where Lee Dewyze actually has a chance of winning. Unless it’s the most Midwestern chin-strap contest, of which Lee Dewyze would crush any and all former idol contestants, save for Chris Daughtry.
There are talks already being thrown around for Ellen’s replacement, and insiders are pointing their fingers at Jennifer Lopez. So it’s pretty much going to be a rotating door for the next few years at Idol, huh? With celebrity judges like Brett Michaels, Damien Hirsch, and anybody who was ever in the Backstreet Boys.
If Jennifer Lopez is as good at picking singers as she is at picking movie projects, you will find the next top three catering your dinner parties. Guaranteed.
