Lately, MIA has been in the press for being a terrible person. Literally, when the NYT is calling your pop act stale and borderline kicking sand at you and calling you a poseur, you need to re-evaluate your at.
MIA’s Hard LA concert was cancelled because a bunch of underage kids decided to take a ton of Ecstasy, and were promptly laughed at and not helped by security guards. Which is kinda their job as security guards. If I saw a kid overdosing on Ecstasy, and laughing at them would be the last thing they teach you in security guard school – right after beating them with cudgels, and painting their faces before rigor mortis hits. But her New York concert was supposed to go as planned.
Only it didn’t. Because MIA has apparently caught wind that she’s a terrible artist who is bashing other artists for being cheap dilettantes whilst making the most basic-hipster grabbing formula on the planet. And she decided to air her grievances at Hard NYC, where she spat on photographers, threw bottles of tequila into the audience, and later made like a fourteen-year-old to bitch on her Twitter account.
These are our tastemakers. I fear for the world. Enjoy the video, because if I were at Hard NYC, I would’ve enjoyed throwing paint buckets at the stage.

Well considering I've actually seen MIA live when she doesn't have sound problems and it was mayb the most amazing concert I've ever seen, yea i'd say your a hater and this article is really bias. Oh and she's still done better songs than any of the artists she bashes.

she was having huge problems with the sound system the entire time. nothing was working out as it should. how can you be so judgmental? you know nothing about m.i.a., or the concert which you weren't even at, so why are you reporting about it? you need to proofread your article and make actual arguments other than just calling her a "terrible person."

Meg, please explain to me why every other act that night had good (decent) sound? She also had six hours of sound check the night before. The "swimming in reverb" sound is evidently a result of (the near impossible) attempt to make her sound like her record when it's live (totally agree with this) and the industrial noise from the songs were not pleasant, to say the least. Is she a terrible person? No. But she disrespected the crowd, photogs, her guests and her crew. Yes, she's young, but it's time to lay off the weed and tequila and focus on putting on a good show.

This artist is unwise to do these actions. If she really cared about her image she wouldn't do this or she would. She's great and all but she needs to rein in her bug mouth. Haha the commentators who call this article bias have a but of the bias element in their comments. Mia has insulted great artists and no Tom, she really hasn't done better songs than the artists she bashes.

I've seen M.I.A. live twice and I can vouch for this reporter, she sucks live. It's so awful, people were walking away in disgust to go see some other artist who was unknown to the public. The latest album is so bad I could wipe my nasty ass with it. Even Xtina's album was better, that's bad. If it wasn't for Diplo and Switch and lead singer from Elastica, she wouldn't have made it. Connections people.

Sounds like your making shit up for the sake of controversy. Where in this clip do you see her throwing bottles and spitting on reporters? Wasn't LA Hard cancelled because of poor ticket sales. And offering fans a free concert via Twitter after torrential downpour ruined her set...well, how is that "acting like a fourteen-year-old bitch?" I'm not saying that I'm in any way contrite over the bad press and lackluster reviews MIA's been receiving, (personally, I think the gimmick's up for her), but come on man, you weren't even there. By the way, I'd hardly call this "reporting." You sound more like an angry blogger airing his grievances. Do you actually get paid to come up with this shit?
