While performing their hit, “Bullet With Butterfly Wings” in Tampa Bay, Florida, on Wednesday, Smashing Pumpkins front man Billy Corgan blacked out on stage and fell right onto the drummer’s kit. Speaking out about the incident via Twitter, the 43-year old performer claims he has no memory of collapsing into the drums during the band’s live performance.
“I’ve got quite a good bruise [and] I’m moving slow,” Corgan wrote. He also informed fans that the fall was legit, and not for publicity. “That wasn’t a stage move or clumsiness, that was me blacking out and wiping out,” Corgan told his Twitter followers.
Though the rocker made his fall sound pretty epic, a review of the concert in the Tampa Bay Times never even mentions such an incident.
The band however, did earn a rave review. The paper called the show, “an explosion of ear-gnarling, eye-searing rock ‘n’ roll.”
Billy Corgan and Smashing Pumpkins return to the stage tonight for a show in Knoxville, Tennessee.
