PC Gamers Kill Console Gamers

By Mark Lorenz on July 22nd, 2010

If you’ve ever gripped your XBOX controller and longed for the days you could blow away gamers that were tethered to their PC’s, you missed your opportunity.

Because Microsoft was developing the technology to let PC gamers compete against console gamers. There’s one problem. Microsoft got together the best PC gamers in the world to compete against the best console gamers to see how they’d function in an environment when they were pitted against each other — and every time time, the console gamers lost. So they killed the entire program.

Why? PC’s are more powerful machines, and the keyboard and mouse gives more of a range of motion that consoles didn’t have. Every time, the PC players blew away the console players. That has to be a humiliating thing for people who have spent a giant amount of time playing videogames on their console – sucking up massive hours and time to perfect popping somebody in the head with a pistol on zoom. As a console gamer, I am sad. Sad that I’ll never be able to compete against my PC brethren and yell noob at them through cheap headsets.

You’d think keyboards would be harder to handle than tiny, winged controllers, but whadda ya know?

Cue nerd rage.

This is tough because I do a little of both. I love some of the classic computer games (WOW) but I also love plugging in my Xbox and duking it out Fable style.
