Not everything Eddie Murphy touches turns to death. Sometimes it can be revived by the magic hands of corpulent Spaniards with imaginations the size of their hearts.
I really hope that’s the tagline to a new movie. What new movie? Guillermo Del Toro has announced that he’s going to write, direct, and produce a new Haunted Mansion movie. You might remember the old one, which featured Eddie Murphy making hilarious muggy faces that might’ve motivated you to pick up a short pick-axe and charge the screen. Eddie Murphy has made to most hilariously bad career decisions a man can make, yet somehow keeps getting work. It’d be like if a soccer player kept consistently scoring goals on his own team, but the coaches had faith in his ability and kept him on the team, despite pissing off millions of fans.
I can’t even take Eddie Murphy seriously. He came up doing impressions of better comedians, and 80’s stars threatening to bone each other in the ass.
Anyway, Guillermo Del Toro made a surprise appearance at Comic Con, and announced that he was going to work on the movie, and wasn’t going to return Eddie Murphy’s calls.
Which means we should all be excited. That Eddie Murphy still knows how to use a phone, and Guillermo Del Toro is going to work more.
