Sumner Redstone Will Prank Call You

By Mark Lorenz on July 21st, 2010

The problem with elderly moguls is that they have the bad habit of going crazy, or turning into unkillable vampire demons. Guess what Sumner Redstone has done?

Sumner is the majority shareholder in Viacom, one of the big five media corporations that are responsible to pumping content into your head, along with Universal/GE, TimeWarner, Disney, and News Corp. So 1/5 of what you most likely take in, mediawise, Sumner Redstone is responsible for, more if you reallllly enjoy movies that are made by Paramount and Dreamworks. Sumner had the idea of forcing a show on MTV that – brace yourself – features an all-girl group known as the Electric Barbarellas shopping their demo tape around in the hopes that they’ll get a record deal. You’ve seen that show before, thousands of times, pitched in better situations.

Anyway, he offers protection for a man who ran the story in the New York Post, whilst simultaneously demanding the name of the person who leaked the story to him.

This might give you faith, that even the head of one of the world’s largest conglomerates has terrible ideas. Frequently. Oh, crazy old men.

Sumner will next be seen in a remake of Grumpy Old Men.
