In what can only be described as a major burn, Conan O’Brien’s category has been cut from the live telecast of the Primetime Emmy Awards!
Conan has been nominated in the “Outstanding Variety, Music, or Comedy Series” category, and will most likely win. Though because of this decision, fans won’t be able to watch would likely one of the most epic Emmy acceptance speeches in the history of Emmy acceptance speeches.
NBC, what is the deal here? First you take his show and now you take his Emmy award category?! What is wrong with you people? Have you no soul??!
Hollywood.com writes, “We were all excited to watch Conan win the category, mostly because we knew his acceptance speech would be epic, and even though Stewart and Colbert are great too, Conan got shafted and the only thing that can make him feel better is a winged lady in a flowy dress.”
Jay Leno must be behind this! After all, the Primetime Emmy Awards air live on NBC August 29, 2010. Coincidence? I think not.
Update: Perez Hilton reports that Conan’s category will be shown in the televised broadcast after all. While the overall Outstanding Variety, Music, or Comedy Series will be shown, the Outstanding Writing for a Variety, Music or Comedy series category will not be aired.
