Lebron James Headed To Miami

By Mark Lorenz on July 8th, 2010

Lebron James is a polarizing figure across the board. Some people love him, other people hate him for his ball-hogging ways and tendency to over-hype himself.

But he comes by it honestly. People have been making movies about LeBron playing basketball since he was a teenager. I can’t name any modern athlete that’s been more exposed than he has – save for Tiger Woods. And we all saw how THAT turned out. The latest deal? He’ll be announcing in a primetime special where he’ll be going as a free agent – for a whole hour. No word on whether or not he’ll talk about himself for an hour, but this is Lebron James we’re discussing. It’ll either be a highlight reel for 58 minutes and two minutes of talk, or a vacation video for wherever he winds up going to.

Though some commentators have pointed out the ridiculousness of having an hour-long press conference to announce where you’re headed in your career — especially when no-one else is doing it — other people see it as fitting for the two-time MVP winner.

What’s even more ridiculous? That barring a last-minute decision, analysts have already pointed towards Lebron moving to Miami. And not just one, several – mostly via Twitter. So Lebron James will be hosting mostly a hyped press conference announcing he’ll be partying in the city where the heat is on. And will be doing so possibly all night until the break of dawn. With Chris Bosh and Dwayne Wade? Insta-champs.

Lebron James will be going to Miami. And if we’re wrong, we’ll just write a follow up.

I think he'll announce that he's actually starting his own franchise in a new Ohio city called Egopolis. There, he will lure washed up talent to come join in another attempt to MAKE IT to an NBA Finals. Word is, he's trying to get Kareem Abdul Jabbar out of retirement, and lure Jason Williams (White Chocolate) from Orlando.
