As you’d expect, the rock star plans to celebrate the occasion with friends in New York. Ringo’s marking his special day with a private event at the Hard Rock Café in Times Square in the morning, and performing at Radio City Music hall at night with his All Starr Band.
But what do you get for a man who has – or has had – everything? Peace, and love.
According to the New York Times, Ringo is continuing a tradition he started on his birthday two years ago – “asking fans to say the words ‘Peace and Love’ at noon” today. “The more we promote it, the more chance we have of getting it,” he says.
Despite turning 70, Starr is showing no signs of slowing down. (In his head, he thinks he’s a mere 24.) Quoting his “new hero” B.B. King, Ringo jokes, “I have a great line: B.B. is still playing, even though he’s sitting down. But hey, I’m sitting down already.”
