Organize Your Music Files With TuneUp (Review)

By David Woods on July 6th, 2010

If you’re like me, you’ve downloaded a lot of music over the years. Some of it is organized into folders, but a lot of it is single tracks that sit on your desktop or inside various folders on your hard drive.

TuneUp is a program that can help you organize your music files. It can automatically edit all the songs that are labeled Track 1 or Unknown Artist so they display accurate information. It can also find album art online and even shows you concert listings for your local area. It can even… you know what? Why don’t you just watch this video and see everything that it can do:

I gave TuneUp a try today and I have to say that I like the program. My music was fairly organized going in, but there were definitely a few folders I had never gotten around to sorting. I put over 2000 songs in the program it it took around 40 minutes to process them all. TuneUp was able to identify and correctly name all but 28 tracks. To be fair, these tracks were mostly obscure comedy songs and live recordings, so it’s no surprise that they couldn’t be identified.

The part that I enjoyed most was that TuneUp went online and found album art for almost all of my music. I just got an iPhone (I know, I’m lagging way behind) and I’m looking forward to browsing through albums and actually seeing art. I was getting pretty sick of the blank placeholder album cover that I kept seeing in my phone.

TuneUp also showed me concert listings for my city, which was cool.

I would recommend TuneUp for anyone who has a bunch of downloaded music that isn’t organized. If you’ve been organizing your music as you download it, then good for you. TuneUp is probably not worth your money if you’re anal about organizing your files. That said, TuneUp is available as a free trial download and you have nothing to lose by trying it out. You can download a free trial version of TuneUp here.

Useful if you have a bunch of downloaded music not organized. If you have been organizing it as

you’ve been going, good for you. Probably not worth the money. But you may as well try the free

version and see if you like it.
