At least not yet! Somebody at the British website Total Film tweeted yesterday that, July 6, 2010 was the date input by Christopher Lloyd’s Doc Brown in “Back to the Future” for heading into the future – thereby making Tuesday, “Future Day.”
However, as The Marque Blog reports, “the tweet worked its way around the Web before the truth could turn its flux capacitor on.”
The truth is in the original Back to the Future film, Marty McFly (played by Michael J. Fox) travels from October 26, 1985 back to November 1955. Upon his arrival he knocked down one of the two pines for which the Twin Pines Mall was named, which also happened to be the starting point of his journey.
While McFly does actually travel to the future in the sequel, it’s not until 5 years from now – October 21, 2015. So we’ve got a few years to go before we can catch a glimpse of a time traveling DeLorean.
Now, if only I could find that sports almanac….
