M. Night Shyamalan’s Last Airbender has been described as, “dull,” “dreadful,” and even, “like a Care Bears movie.” Now, (full disclosure) I haven’t seen it yet, but it’s not sounding good for the film.
Granted, many other movies have been blasted by critics, but as E Online reports, “in Hollywood’s summer of unloved movies, The Last Airbender is getting some historic hate.”
Based on the popular animated series that aired on Nickelodeon and Nicktoon Network, The Last Airbender follows the story of Aang, an Avatar and the last of the Air Nomads striving to fulfill his destiny of once again restoring peace to the world. Of course, he encounters a ton of enemies along the way, including the exiled son of Lord Ozai, Commander Zhao, and the evil Fire Lord himself.
However, “as of this morning, its Metacritic rating stood at 20, ‘good’ for a spot on the review-crunching site’s all time low scores list,” according to E Online. They are quick to add that “Things are no better at Rotten Tomatoes, where its ‘Tomatometer’ reading is a barely there 9%, which is actually up from yesterday’s 6%.”
Yikes.
But, despite the disastrous reviews and some even calling it the end of Shyamalan’s career, The Last Airbender is hardly a box office bomb, earning a reported $16 million in its opening day. Whether it will be able to continue to fill theater seats with the ever increasing stack of horrible reviews is still unknown.
Shout out to CityThatBreeds for posting this funny jab on Twitter, “M. Night Shyamalan’s biggest twist of all is the end of his career – *it was dead the whole time*”
Touché.

I haven't seen it yet, but if this movie is challenging is other movie "the Happening" for title of worst movie ever that is really saying something, I heard critics calling that movie the measuring stick to which all horrible movies will be measured againsnt, so how do they compare to each other

It was a horrible movie! UGH! I'm only glad I didn't actually pay for my ticket, otherwise I would have demanded a refund. Perhaps if I hadn't been such a fan of the original series it wouldn't have been so bad, but even still, my friends who didn't watch Avatar as much as I did said it was mediocre at best. The acting was dreadful and the pronunciations of the names...what idiot came up with that???

OMG OMG OMG!!!!! that was the worst piece of film making I have ever seen, i can't believe that i actually stayed thru that movie (only because the women would be pissed if i didn't) he absolutly ruined this story, he removed important people, important events and made it way to hard to follow and the dialogue is just plain garbage, really terrible, if you can't match the dialouge of the original then use some of it, there is important pieces of dialogue that were omitted or used in the wrong place and i found it to be joking, the story changed to much and it was way to cluttered, couldn't be followed unless you ahve seen the series and in no way is this an adequate representation of the series first chapter, i am insulted that the creator even let this piece of grabage be released. Good riddance M. Night I hope your career is ova

I'm sorry but this is the worst movie ever I'm a huge fan of the cartoon and it did not live up to the hype the dialogue was horrible they totally changed key factors that was in the cartoon. the seen with the imprisoned earth benders made no sense. in the cartoon there was no earth to bend that is what rendered them helpless in the movie there is earth all around them. I mean the writers and directors of franchises like harry potter and twilight know to stick with the idea of the original in which it became popular in the first place. a total let down never been more disappointed !!!!!!!!!!!!! oh and by the way the people that are commenting are doing so I'm guessing with never having seen a episode of avatar the last airbender.

For everyone that "doesn't understand" this. See the animation series. And DON'T see it in the stupid 3d, that just makes it worse. Watch the animation series BEFORE this. I loved Avatar and the movie, but thanks to allllll the bad ratings JUST because nobody bothered to see the series, they wont be making a sequel. 2nd worst movie!!!?? THIS SHOULD OF BEEN ONE OF THE BEST MOVIES!!!
