Leno’s Ratings Are Slipping

By Mark Lorenz on July 1st, 2010

Jay Leno is back, but not really. He’s tainted goods. He’s like a ‘roided out MMA fighter waiting to punch a woman in a face. And for that reason, his ratings are slipping.

Conan O’ Brien is going to be sitting pretty soon, with a late night deal that puts him in the youngest demographic that watches late-night television. And that’s way better than Jeno’s audience of geriatrics who can barely lift the remote. Seriously, the demo he draws is basically the same as Fox News – they only watch Leno because they don’t know what other channels they have.

The Tonight Show with Jay Leno had its lowest rated second quarter since Leno came back and they unceremoniously dropped Conan O’ Brien. The Tonight Show average 4.0 million viewers, down 20% from last year, and 31% in adults from 18-49. The Late Show with David Letterman is now about at the same point where they were before O’Brien was replaced.

Personally, I hope Jay Leno takes his hundreds of millions of dollars and does something like open a vineyard. Or something that he could brand with his giant head. I would enjoy that. Almost as much as I’d enjoy watching Conan at 11:30 on NBC.

I personally cannot stand Conan. I don't find him funny and I cannot stand to look at his face for fear of going blind. Jay has always been my favorite in the late night spot. His show is currently being delayed every night for Wimbledon updates. It is going to take a way for the banter between Kevin and Jay to develop with the new band leader, Ricky Minor. The New Tonight Show Band sounds great and musical guest are already reaping the benefits of this. It's a ashame Lopez Tonight is moved back for 'coco'. Jay is still the King of Late Night!

Couldn't have happened to a nicer Douche! Leno is an a-hole of major proportions. The fact that he shakes down struggling club owners for a couple of grand when he tests some of his material in their clubs proves it. I hope he tanks into oblivion.

Nice post Corri. Now back to your desk at NBC. Zucker and company need to you make more completely false troll posts on the other news sites that are reporting that Leno is going down fast. PS - the part about Jay and Kevin having taken a long time to develop that sophisticated and finely-honed banter between them was especially funny. You must have been laughing really hard as you type that obvious BS into your NBC computer.

NBC/Zucker's asinine decision is coming home to roost! They were too stupid to realize that a large portion of Leno's "last" few years' ratings had to do with people like me watching him only to be a part of the historic changing of the guard last year. With them going back on the transition to Conan, those that viewed the Tonight Show in it's historic sense no longer had any reason to watch Leno, and in fact have a reason not to watch him. NBC and Zucker, your lesson today is to find Conan's last week episodes (the ones that you buried and pulled from the internet) and watch all of them, particularly where Conan talks about the (formerly) historic franchise, and ask yourself why you listened to a sports commentator that was losing you money on the Olympics over listening to common sense. P.S.--Zucker and Leno, you destroyed NBC's nightly lineups of dramas. You prematurely terminated Life and My Name is Earl and others. While Southland was picked up by cable (as was Conan), the others were not. You left a long trail of destruction from your stupidity.
