Sandy Kane Naked Cowgirl in Showdown with Naked Cowboy Robert Bruck

Naked Cowboy, Naked CowgirlThe Times Square tourist attraction that is the Naked Cowboy (real name, Robert Burck) is embroiled in a showdown with Sandy Kane, an entertainer-turned naked cowgirl who has infiltrated his turf.

The bikini-clad Kane has received a cease-and-desist letter from Burck for infringing on the Naked Cowboy trademark.  It reads, “Your use of Naked Cowgirl is essentially identical to the Naked Cowboy and is clearly in violation [of the Naked Cowboy trademark].”

What happened to a good ol’ western shootout?  Personally I think water guns at dawn would be much more entertaining for tourists.

The Naked Cowboy is reportedly seeking as much as $150,000, though his manager, Todd Rubenstein, says that they would be willing to negotiate a deal.  He told the Post, “If she’s going to sell stuff and make money off of it, then, yeah, she’s going to have to pay.”

Kane, however, insists that she has been naked for years, and that she only makes $2 per picture.  She doesn’t sell any products.

Before their feud, People magazine reports that the Naked Cowboy and Cowgirl were going to perform a duet together, however, that deal fell apart when Burck insisted that Kane sign a franchise agreement.  “The song ain’t going anywhere anyways,” Kane insists. “It’s not like he’s Tim McGraw or Keith Urban.”

Cue the tumbleweed – those are some fightin’ words.
