US Open Golf 2010: Can Tiger Woods Win The Tournament?

By Heather on June 16th, 2010

Tiger WoodsAmidst ever continuing scandal – love child anyone? – Tiger will return to the course at Pebble Beach this weekend.  Despite many personal and professional struggles this year, golf commentators are predicting a solid outing for Tiger at the tournament.

Pebble Beach is the site of what has arguably become Tiger’s most dominating victory.  On a course where may professionals struggle to maintain a score under par, Tiger shot a -12 for the tournament and won by 15 strokes.

“That was really a wake-up call for a lot of guys,” Ernie Els said of Woods’ 2000 Pebble Beach victory. “A lot of guys started changing their game. And a lot of guys took their physical fitness to another level. And 10 years later, here we are.”

In practice rounds this week Tiger has reportedly looked less-than-stellar, but maintains his optimism that his game is progressing. ”The more I play, the more I get my feel back,” he added. “Where I was in the beginning of June is where a lot of the guys are in January and February — the amount of rounds they competed and played in. So I’m just starting to get my feel back. And I know I have to be patient. It’s coming along.”  Unfortunately the same can’t be said for his integrity.

The US Open begins tomorrow.

Tiger was a dominant force in golf until all this scandal. Without a strong family background he has lost his focus on golf. I don't think he can win this Open. I can respect his talent but not the man.
