If you’re a fan of irony, this is about as wet-dreamy as you can get. Mike “The Situation” Sorrentino has announced that he’s going to come out with a rap song.
A rap. Song. Despite the fact that properly stringing together sentences is high up on Sorrentino’s “Things-To-Do” list, it seems that everyone who has a tiny brush with fame suddenly thinks that they can be a musician. See also: Drake, for dropping one of the most lackluster offerings in recent years, motivated apparently by the fact that he’s a wealthy kid from the suburbs of Canada. And needs more money by rapping like he’s Lil’ Wayne. Super-lame.
Anyway, most likely to celebrate the next season of the hit MTV show, Sorrentino decided it’d be a fantastic idea to record a rap song. Or at least sample his voice on one. I have no idea where irony ends. Hopefully we can stop admitting we love terrible things, just because it makes us seem hipper-than-thou. Because all-in-all, muscled guidos repeating their nickname over and over again or rich housewives using auto-tune to talk about being elegant whilst dancing in soft focus.
It’s more than one culture can bear. Enjoy the song. And your ears melting.

do you listen to any hip-hop? although i agree (who wouldn't) that The Situation's song is going to be a steamy pile of garbage, Drake happens to be a critically well received, decent selling combination. I understand how retarded it sounds that the kid that played Jimmy on Degrassi has a rap album, but his mix tape was pretty much in my top 5 of 2009
