iPhone 4 Preorders Tap Entire Supply

By Mark Lorenz on June 16th, 2010

Apple pretty much rules the tech roost these days. With an iron fist. How badly do people like Apple products?

Enough to bleed the iPhone well dry well before the actual launch. Preorders for the iPhone have caused the initial supply of the hot-button tech item to sell out. That means there were enough people inside the Apple Store, on the Apple Store app, and their website to crash their servers and claim millions of new phones. I just, I don’t even. That’s beyond fandom. That’s a tech company that just overtook Microsoft.

Seriously, if religions had people as devoted to them as Apple, we would all be embroiled in conflicts 24/7 over which diety could bring us goodies like a camera with a flash on it, built into a phone. Today was the busiest sales day in AT&T’s history.

If you didn’t manage to brave the lines and snag a preorder spot this week, don’t worry about it. You’ll still be able to walk in a store and purchase the goodie, as AT&T and Apple both keep an in-store supply. Other options for purchase? Best Buy, Radioshack, and Wal-Mart.

But seriously, don’t get stampeded by an angry mob with wire-rim glasses. It’s not worth it.
