Cristiano Ronaldo Dive vs. Ivory Coast World Cup 2010 (Watch)

By AAyles on June 16th, 2010

We agree with many fans who think that Cristiano Ronaldo is an amazingly talented soccer player. We don’t agree with many of the choices he makes on the field – including his dive against Ivory Coast yesterday which is sparking controversy today.

Here’s what we don’t understand: Why does a player like Cristiano – who probably has more skill than three quarters of the players in the 2010 World Cup – have to resort to diving to win the ball? If you’re really as talented as you want everyone to think you are, shouldn’t you be able to win the ball without acting like you were hacked in the ankle when you so clearly weren’t?

Take a look at the video below where Cristiano Ronaldo takes a dive (and wins the call) when the other player wasn’t even close to hitting him.

If this is the type of talent we can expect to see from the Portugal team this year, we truly hope they don’t win the cup.

Like we said before, he did win the call in yesterday’s game, so was it a good move on the part of the controversial soccer player? We’ll leave that decision up to you.

As though his dive against Ivory Coast isn’t enough, take a look at this video of Ronaldo’s most remarkable dives. Truly talented? Maybe not.

He's a tosser. he's always been a tosser. he's the biggest FAKE in soccer and he's destroying the portugal name. I feel bad for his teammates.

I'm hoping that Cristiano will finally get all of the negative press he deserves. he's not a good player, he's a cheater and he deserves to pay. Sorry, Ronaldo but Portugal wont win this year. Better start saving up your tears now.

Are you serious? Cristiano Ronaldo is the single best player in the World Cup right now. He has more talent and drive than most of the world cup player in the history of the competition. He doesn't dive. He is always being hacked down by every other player because everyone knows how good he is. Portugal is lucky to have him and if they win this year it will be because of him.

I agree with Joseph. Cristiano is the best player in the world and because of that, other players kick the shit out of him ALL THE TIME b/c they don't know how else to defend someone like him. So of course he gets fouled a lot. The refs miss a lot of calls, we all know that, Ronaldo's lucky the few times they do acknowledge the fouls against him. People need to get over it, you can't be a true fan of the game and hate on one of the best to ever play it.

I've never been a huge fan, but I admit..he has skills. And yeah..the other players attack him a lot. At the speed that he's running at, even the slightest touch can knock him off his balance.

I love Cristiano Ronaldo, and I think he is a great player. And to those of you who think he should be in the Olympics for diving, remember that he is running extremely fast, and sometimes those players do try to make him fall, to get the ball from him. You just have to look closely.
