It went from bad to worse for Chris Klein this morning.
Klein was arrested at approximately 3:30 a.m. for Driving Under the Influence, westbound on the 101 freeway near Woodman Avenue in Sherman Oaks. According to police, Klein was weaving in his 1999, black Chevy Blazer from his chosen #3 lane into both the #2 and #4 lanes. That’s not so uncommon. For those of us who drive this road almost daily, I’m surprised he was pulled over at all–if the day hadn’t been pushing toward the break of dawn, he probably would have scored a pass.
Klein had his dog with him during the traffic stop, and had to contact a friend to come pick up the pooch. No word on whether or not the dog was also intoxicated, or perhaps Klein was allowing his four-legged pal to drive the SUV whilst sitting on Klein’s lap–thus leading to the bob-and-weave. According to the police report, Klein did not resist arrest.
You have to admire Chris Klein. The guy keeps on trucking, regardless of the fact that everyone still calls him “the American Pie actor.” Personally, I opt for “the guy from Election.” Sure, he has never been accused of being the greatest actor of his generation, but like I said, the 31 year-old Midwestern native keeps on trucking.
He was outed for his audition for Mamma Mia!, but props to Klein, he spun it nicely. Now, I’m kind of curious if he’ll offer something similar for this latest twist of fate. I’ll keep my eyes open over at Funny or Die–if anything hits, I’ll slap it into something right here.
