Nintendo 3DS: Cool 3D Effects, No Silly 3D Glasses

By Heather on June 15th, 2010

Nintendo 3DSAfter months of rumour and speculation, the Nintendo 3DS was unveiled at the company’s E3 2010 Press Conference today.  Aesthetically the system appears quite similar to the DSi, however its hardware packs quite the punch.  Featuring both motion and gyro sensors, the new 3DS also boasts two camera lenses on the underside of the unit which allows users to take 3D photos.  A sidebar allows gamers to adjust the level of 3D for each specific game they are playing.

It doesn’t stop there.  The Nintendo 3DS can also play 3D movies – and with companies like Disney, Dreamworks and Warner Brothers releasing new films in 3D, that feature will surely make the 3DS a big seller for Nintendo.

The original press release from Nintendo announced that the 3D handheld device will be released in March 2011.  But, it has been reported that a “source” within Nintendo UK told a website that the 3DS would be available as early as fall 2010, to compete with Sony’s Playstation Move and Microsoft’s Project Natal.

Will you be getting one?

I didn't think much about this, but after seeing the Kid Icarus Uprising trailer I may give this a chance.
