Gulf Oil Spill: Greenpeace Logo Contest

By Heather on June 15th, 2010

As President Obama prepares to address the nation tonight regarding his administration’s long-term restoration strategy for the Gulf Coast and BP Logo Redesign Greenpeace Contesthis plan to have BP create a fund from which all damage claims would be paid, Green Peace has come up with a creative way to show their disdain for the oil company.

The activist group is calling on the public to design a logo that’s more suitable to BP’s “dirty business.”  The winning logo will be featured in a high profile campaign that places the “new” logo for the disgraced company in high profile, ironic locations.   Additional information about the contest, including image files with BP’s logo in easy-to-edit formats can be found on the Greenpeace website.

The contest, which already has over 11,000 entries (and nearly half a million views), will surely increase the already mounting public pressure to create a viable plan for cleaning up the Gulf.

President Obama is scheduled to meet with BP officials this Wednesday, following tonight’s Oval Office speech.
