Dang.
I have to suppose that David Petraeus is at his wit’s end. I know he’s a distance runner and obviously a highly decorated soldier, but it seems that the question from Senator John McCain was what it took for his brain to say “no more!” As you can see in the video, Petraeus slumps forward and then is attacked, excuse me, attended to by a mob of individuals who are obviously clueless as to what happened, or what they should do. “Water? No water. Water? No? OK. Let’s get him out of here.”
McCain’s reaction is priceless. He is absolutely, and totally confused. Doesn’t know what to do. Probably what his face looked like when he realized that teaming up with Sarah Palin was the worst decision of his life.
Petraeus was in the midst of answering a sharp line of questions from the Senate Armed Forces Committee about President Obama’s hope to begin bringing troops home in July of 2011.
The committee recessed, and Petraeus returned approximately 30 minutes later to sincere applause. He stated that he was dehydrated, and was prepared to continue the questioning. Just as you’d expect, the soldier wanted to continue and the politicians decided it was better to continue the questioning later in the week. Ah, the Fed. Always lookin’ for a paid half-day.
