Damn you, Ryan Gosling.
Nobody can wear white. Ever again. It has been decreed by Manolith. Just kidding.
Virginity is something that is given a lot of weight and far too much emphasis in our culture. Because basically nobody is a virgin, despite the industries that have been spawned with the sole purpose of convincing people that they should remain virgins by buying their jewelry and Disney albums – it just doesn’t happen. Despite the programs designed to highlight the benefits of abstinence, of which there are very few, it just doesn’t happen. Officially? Only one out of seven brides are virgins when their weddings come.
Only one in seven. So no matter how it gets spinned, sex is a fun thing. Sex is something that everybody does, and we here at Manolith encourage. And despite one out of seven being bride-virgins on their wedding day, 87% of them will keep rocking out in their white dresses. And 71% of them will be living together prior to marriage.
So what does this mean? People will still getting married, society will keep changing, and you’ll keep yelling at people to get off of your lawn. That’s just the way that life works.
What’s stayed the same? The couples’ families still foot the bill.
