A weird Hollywood saga has just run its course. And not in a good way. Simon Monjack, husband of Brittany Murphy, has been found dead.
Ashton Kutcher was remembering Brittany to the press, saying that she’d be the first one to dance at a party, and it seemed that although she was talented — she was entering into a drug-induced spiral brought on by poor self-esteem and bad management. And who could’ve helped her out of that? Ostensibly, her husband, who mysteriously insisted that she didn’t do any drugs.
People do not drop dead at 32 from happy things. Nobody sees a unicorn, or the finale of LOST, and decides that they’re so happy they’re going to roll over and take a nap for forever. Murphy was found dead of cardiac arrest from drug intake, complicated by an iron deficiency, anemia, and multiple drug intoxication. Not unicorns. Police were skeptical of Monjack’s involvement, but no charges were ever brought against the struggling screenwriter who seemed like he was all sorts of skeevy.
And now? He’s dead. If you would’ve asked me ten years ago who we’d have trotted out as a contemporary E! True Hollywood Story, I would’ve never told you Brittany Murphy and her family. He died five months after his wife.
It’s just sad.
