Floyd Landis has finally admitted to doping. But he’s dropped another bombshell, maybe to deflect criticism from himself: Lance Armstrong also partook.
Nobody knew who Floyd Landis was before he won the Tour De France, and afterwards, all people knew him as was “The Guy Who Doped Himself To Win The Tour De France”. Which is not what anyone wants to be known as, so now he’ll be “The Guy Who Doped Himself To Win The Tour De France And Ratted Out Lance Armstrong”.
Landis has written a series of e-mails to cycling officials detailing his systemic use and abuse of performance enhancing drugs. He claims that other cyclists and cycling officials contributed to the problem and there’s a culture of performance enhancing drugs that are damaging the sport of cycling. He also says that he’s had lengthy conversations with Lance Armstrong about how to use performance-enhancing drugs, and that they’ve stored bags of their blood in the same freezer
That would’ve been a fantastic blood freezer to raid, allegedly. If you allegedly wanted to be an incredibly roided-out vampire. But if Landis’ allegations are true, it’d be devastating to Armstrong’s legacy as an athlete. If the allegations are false, it’s just Floyd Landis lying more.
Either way, Landis is tainted. Badly.
