Campbell Brown…is Leaving Campbell Brown

Campbell. Brown. One of my favorite names and favorite colors.

Until now, Campbell Brown also anchored one of my favorite cable news shows, “Campbell Brown,” on CNN.

Brown has announced that she is stepping down, and away from the tough time-slot due to low ratings. In an effort to prevent spin and rumors, she stated that she wanted to offer an immediate explanation for why she was leaving the show.

“The simple fact is that not enough people want to watch my program, and I owe it to myself and to CNN to get out of the way so that CNN can try something else.”

Wow. Talk about taking one for the team. It’s unfortunate to see her go. Campbell Brown was the person in the 8 p.m. news slot that offered something related to truth in the news. Perhaps it’s best spun as news without spin, or when considering her competition, she was without continuous regurgitation of subjective opinion. However, you’re right, Ms. Campbell Brown–sadly, nobody wants to watch you come close to gray areas that might possess a smidgen of truth.

And honestly, what guy is going to watch a self-respecting female anchor, when they can turn the volume off on Fox News, click to closed-captioning, look at the short-skirted anchors and read the fake news?

Brown was in competition with cynics such as Bill O’Reilly, The O’Reilly Factor, as well as Keith Olbermann, Countdown with Keith Olbermann and of course, the beacon of truth and intellectual light, Nancy Grace over yonder on the CNN spinoff, Headline News.

Regardless, no more eponymous Campbell Brown.

  1. Hurrah!!

  2. I was so happy when I saw this headline. I think Campbell Brown is an acid tongue witch and for sure, I am one that whould change the station when she came on. In fact, ever since I sporadically watched CNN’s one-sided coverage of the last presidential election, I decided to not waste my time on them.

  3. I could not disagree more !! She is an incredibly intelligent ane honest anchor. I would imagine anyone who feels she is unable to delivery the truth in an effective and human way, must be an avid viewer of the “fox news way” of delivering the “truth”.
It will be interesting to see who takes her spot. I am an avid CNN watcher, although 1 person I would not mind seeing leave is Rick Sanchez. His is the only show ( I don’t count the gasbag LKL, who I can’t stand either ) that I would like to see an anchor change.

  4. My viewing habits:
Tune in for John King at 4, tune out for Campbell Brown and Larry King, tune back in to Anderson Cooper at 7. Contrary to the tenor of this report, I did not find Campbell Brown to be credible, unbiased or intellectually curious enough to qualify as a legitimate journalist.

I liked Campbell in the 2008 election she was good for the democrats, but the trying to find common ground with dems and repubs, was, I think hard, its like obama with a bi-partisan stuff, a waste of time. I think people are more partisan these days and less bi-partisan so her trying to be bi-partian did fit well with current politcal mood. I think Rick Sanchez has one of best ratings on CNN so he won’t be going unless he wants too, alot of viewers want him on longer. I don’t know about rest people on CNN. They are not as entertaining as other stations. There like the inbetween guy and people aren’t into that these days. I hope they get someone with a more postitive attitude , I thought she was negative many times, which turned me off. I also left cnn after 2008 election. I discovered msnbc and I love it. CNN seemed boring after seeing what msnbc was like. I’m a totally liberal and progressive so i’m happy with my new discovery but I guess for conservatives its was fox news for them. CNN with the low ratings means no one is really interested.

Anderson cooper rocks too I forgot about him, I still watch sometimes and go on the website but its alot less these days, I’m guessing thats
    what has been going on.

  7. The once mighty CNN is only a shadow of itself since there are more options available, and Campbell Brown can’t compete against Bill O’Reilly. Keith Olbermann will be next.

  8. For me, it was her nasally, whiney voice…call me shallow, but the same for many female talking heads/show hosts..cannot stand it!!!

  9. James Sheldon is an idiot…it’s the power of the pen thing and he’s right and if we watch something more entertaining we are wrong.

She had low ratings, that’s your first clue James. Maybe your the idiot, we get a choice to watch what we want so quite busting on the competition and just say, nice try Campbell, it just didn’t work out.

I hate most writers because of comments like yours. Congrats!!! You keep it going strong.

  10. Gooood Bye and please don’t turn up boo hooing your bias reporting somewhere else. Watched it(you) a couple of times could’t take any more

  11. Truthful? Are you nuts?

  12. She did the right thing. As people in the “biz” know….it’s all about ratings plus ad revenue. As a media ad sales rep…its all about numbers. While Campbell can offer some great reporting, advice…she is NOT a headliner. She would be awesome in a SUPPORTING role.

  13. Ella Presley says:

So when is “acid-tongue” Nancy Gray leaving?

  14. kevin Davidson says:

A lot of you have hit the nail on the head!! I am not Chauvinistic, I will listen to anyone who captivates me with, female or male. Nancy Grace is..I am not sure which sex she is but too much testosterone for me. I agree the nasally, whinny voice of Campbell Brown is too much for even me to handle. Good ridens! Christian Amenpoor (spelling??)now there is a lady Journalist! I love her, integrity and passion, in very dangerous places not behind a desk!

  15. Never in a million would I have thought Campbell Brown would divide the forces and make the blood boil.

Truthful? Notice the play on “gray areas.” No need to tear ‘em all apart, but I think everyone is full of it to a certain extent (anchors, that is). You can’t play gray and stick around, and if you’re leaning left, you gotta jump over yonder…Mike hit it – it’s not news, it’s entertainment.

And Mike, I asked my Grandmother and she said that it’s true. I AM an idiot. Though I don’t think I said you were wrong for liking ANYTHING, much less disliking Campbell Brown, but if you say so, it must be…

Should send this Bitch back to the south where she comes from. If you cremated her she could be in Hell 30 minutes before they knew it.

  17. So Sylvia let me guess you watch FOX right because they are right down the center…..LOL

  18. Just wanted to let you know that you were a great asset to the program and I need to know where you are going from here. Warmest regards, Alan Skopp
