John Travolta: Dogs Killed in Airport Accident

By James Sheldon on May 18th, 2010

I feel for John Travolta. I have great sympathy. He and wife Kelly Preston have had it rough over the past year.

Last year they had to deal with the tragic and unexpected death of their son, Jett. That tragedy was followed with litigation in an extortion case surrounding the death of their son. Most recently, in an accident last Thursday, their two dogs were killed at the Bangor International Airport in Bangor, Maine.

Yeah, I thought it was a crazy web-rumor, too. Completely legit.

After landing at the Bangor International Airport, an individual/assistant to the couple took the two dogs away from the aircraft, hoping to offer them a quick walk to a nearby grassy area. Both dogs were leashed, yet apparently just far enough from the handler to be missed by an oncoming airport vehicle. The driver of the truck was en route to service the aircraft when the dogs were struck and killed.

A few of the news-blogs are putting the word “charges” out there. I think they need to come off it. Airport officials have stated that the incident is under investigation. I’m sure we’ve all been at enough airports to know how traffic moves across the tarmac. While I feel terrible for the Travolta family, the tarmac just doesn’t scream “Dog Park.”
