You can say lots of things about Russell Crowe. That he has anger issues, that he’s a phone-throwing lout who reprises the same sort of roles, and that he’s far too elderly to be pulling off action movies. These would be inaccurate.
Also, the man knows how to promote a goddamn movie. Ever get tired of seeing the same stuffy stars trot their limited verbiage in front of large cutouts of their heads and an interchangeable entertainment report ask them the same questions over and over? Of course you are. Everyone is. It’s a boring, stagnant freak show.
Russell Crowe feels the same way, and in addition to casting acting pals of his as roles in his new film, Robin Hood, he’s gotten them to do interviews where they sing songs. And be merry. Because they are the Merry Men and they are now rich as hell. Kevin Durand, Alan Doyle, and Scott Grimes were all at a press junket in Italy, and the reporter managed to get them to break out into song. What follows is a wonderful journey into the domain of moviestars who manage to have senses of humor and are able to break out and have a good time. And Russell Crowe grunting.
Enjoy.
