Lady Gaga Is The Most Influential Artist of 2010

By Mark Lorenz on April 30th, 2010

Lady Gaga has been named Time Magazine’s most influential artist of 2010. Which proves, that in times of economic distress, people turn to the simplest, most escapist things.

Time Magazine’s most influential artist award could also be labeled “the kinda most exposed people of the year”, as number two was Conan O’ Brien, number three was Kathryn Bigelow, four was Oprah Winfrey, and number five was a Russian opera director. It seems like this process was screened really rigorously, considering nobody saw the Hurt Lucker, despite it being an incredible film, Conan O’ Brien no longer has a television show, and Gaga is the most influential artist only in the hearts of girls who dance at nightclubs. Pretty much it. Also, they had the internet vote on it, which completely validates the results as absolute fact. </sarcasm>

Then again, it’s a testament to how out of touch the people on the internet are. And how they’re capable of bursts of hilarity. As number six is Robert Pattinson and Ashton Kutcher is number seven. What the hell has Ashton Kutcher worked on that’s influenced 2010? A canceled drama series on the CW? His Twitter account? What the hell have you been smoking, Time magazine pollers?

Or did you just put Ashton on there for 4chan?

gaga is the voice of a generation that is otherwise underground. art, fashion, and music actually means something to some people. what other pop artists speak for gay rights? fight against aids? what other artist has NEVER badmouthed any other artist to get press?

dear Mark, you believe you are something like a cultural elite. You are just a ignorant full of bias. You disdain popular culture, but you cannot ignore his global impact, and not only on girl in night club.

What this proves is those that don’t get GaGa waste their time trying to describe, explain and discount her. Why do you try to explain what you don't understand.

What a PATHETIC, IGNORANT, INSENSITIVE, and IMPERCEPTIVE human being this 'writer' is. 1. "Which proves, that in times of economic distress, people turn to the simplest, most escapist things." 2. "Gaga is the most influential artist only in the hearts of girls who dance at nightclubs" Wow. Just Wow.

No, i have to agree with Mark. If american culture wasn't so Fubar about shiny fancy things that have money or trying to keep up with the jones we would be doing a helluva lot better than we are now.
