Strangely enough, it wasn’t with his floppy hair. And ambiguously asexual arms. But Australia has apparently met their match in Bieber Fever, which injured eight girls.
Granted, teens these days don’t have a choice between cheesy, half-talented idols and legitimate ones as they’ve had years prior. These days, it’s a choice between Disney, Nickelodeon, and fetuses that have been weaned by Usher. But people will still react accordingly, and by accordingly, I mean assemble into screaming throngs and trample on people in front of them so they can catch a glimpse of Lord Floppylocks.
For those of you unaware of Justin Bieber – again, I envy you – he’s Usher’s protégé, which means that he’ll be a teen heartthrob, release one to two relevant albums, and then find somebody younger to usurp him. He’s got an international hit out right now, called Baby. It’s good to know they’ve cut out the middle-man in pop lyrics, and are just now titling songs Baby. Instead of saying it 5-20 times in the choruses.
5000 frenzied teenagers went wild when the doors opened at 3 pm instead of 5. 10 girls fainted, and had to be removed by paramedics. That’s not even the funny part. The funny part is that people camped overnight…to essentially wait to be trampled on. Now that’s commitment. Thankfully, no-one was killed. Because that’d be a hard thing for a mother — having her child killed by the latest fad.
