You couldn’t resist, could ya? You need to see what’s going down, and who sits atop the leaderboard.
Easy enough.
The Masters site will connect you to all the action, and if you’re hoping for some additional TV coverage, hit ESPN this afternoon, beginning at 1 p.m. EDT. If you prefer the ESPN coverage online, you can hit ESPN3, formerly ESPN360. If I may offer a brief pause–wouldn’t it make sense for Disney to outbid CBS for the March Madness tournament as the contract comes to a close? Imagine all those games on the ABC/ESPN family of networks. Back to golf.
Tiger Woods. Yep, he’s playing. He’ll tee of at 1:42 EDT, grouped with K.J. Choi and Matt Kuchar. Both Choi and Kuchar have to love that they’re actually coming into a tournament with a higher PGA ranking than Woods. Unfortunately, Vegas and every betting entity says Woods will go better than both of them on Thursday and Friday.
Poking around CBSSports.com, it seems as if the site users are pretty well split on the likelihood of Tiger’s success at the event: Most believing he’ll play well into Sunday, a good handful thinking he’ll take it and a few who believe he won’t make the cut. I wouldn’t be surprised to see any one of those three scenarios come to pass. He could be stellar, and he could suck. He has promised to tone down his on-course antics, but I have a feeling that will only relate to the negative vibes. If he makes some HUGE shots, I think you’ll still see that HUGE Tiger fist-pump.
Oh yeah, there are other dudes playing in this tournament as well. At present: 12:39 p.m. EDT/9:39 a.m. PDT, Bernhard Langer leading thru 16 at -3. Other notables: David Toms, Tom Watson, Steve Marino and Anthony Kim.
The Masters will continue through Sunday, where the winner will be awarded the coveted Green Jacket. Will we see a former winner take another, or will some new shoulders enjoy the custom cut?
