Elton John To Give Concert In Mayan Ruins

By Mark Lorenz on April 3rd, 2010

Elton John is one of pop’s greatest treasures. He’s sold millions of records, his songs have stood the test of time, and he puts on some of the  most theatrical shows you could hope to see. That being said, he’s pissing off Mayans.

And if there’s one thing we should’ve learned from 2012, it’s that you should never piss off Mayans. They’ll put a crazy hex on you, do some astrological dingbatty thing, and the world will wind up falling apart with John Cusack screaming, fast driving and buildings blowing up. Legitimately.

Why? Elton John is planning of giving a concert in the ruins of Chichen Itza – Indiana Jones much? – in Merida, Mexico. The best thing?  You need to perform a ceremony, a ritual to ask permission from the gods for the concert, and the ritual was not performed. And people have been getting injured constructing the scaffolding for the concert. So the gods and fairies are being blamed for causing disturbances and locals want to shut down the concert.

Let me get this straight, you think fairies and gods are going to shut down an Elton John concert? Fairies and gods are the reason why Elton John has a fanbase. Zing.
