Guardians of the free Republics

The Guardians of the free Republics. Have you heard of this organization? You have now.

They’ve put out 30 letters to state governors requesting that they step down from office in three days, or be removed. The FBI anticipates that letters have been sent to all 50 governors, but I’m gonna say they don’t mess with Schwarzenegger.

Ultimately, I’m confused by these letters. A quick visit to the Guardians of the free Republics site, and you’ll find that this is a non-violent movement. However, a statement on the Introduction page, dated March 31, 2010, presents the following:

“After a year of face-to-face negotiations with high-ranking members of the armed forces of the united States of America, the leaders of the freedom movement have joined together to bring you a four step comprehensive remedy–the Restore America Plan–whereby the military has agreed to follow the orders of the legitimate de jure government upon proper restoration and execution.”

You can’t ignore the fact that the United States is working through a social and political division that has been brewing since everyone took their flags down post-9/11. A division that seems to possess the same volatility of the American Civil War. Yeah, people will have you believe it’s peaceful revolution, but day after day, it seems more and more that people are simply peeved about who won the last election, while still being upset about the dupe-job they received during the administration that preceded it.

State leaders refusing to participate in federal activities; grumblings within a couple “larger” states about becoming their own sovereign entities: I get that people are disgruntled, but has our vision as a nation really become so clouded that we can only see as far as our hand can reach?

So, how precisely, will they remove these governors from office? I don’t know. I guess we’ll have to wait and see.

This is a tough one for me. I’ve got a pocketful of counter-points, but no real time to share!
