Dennis Hopper Sick And Broke

One of the reasons we need national healthcare? So we can save people like Dennis Hopper.

Dennis Hopper is a national treasure, man. He’s like, one of the last remaining regal stars that we have of an age where independent film helped inject life back into the studio system, instead of being a drain of precious brats in sweaters. Also, he’s a badass, having attempted to have champagne orgies with Natalie Wood, and has the ability to stay up for weeks at a time.

Unfortunately, he’s also broke at this point and dying of cancer. And his wife is trying to take what money she can, but he’s reportedly so sick that the doctors are worried a deposition might put him over the edge. And that cancer treatments have left him dead broke.

These last years have been bad for celebrities, and Dennis Hopper is a personal hero of mine. Easy Rider is one of the most enjoyable films of the 60’s, I’ve never really disliked a performance of his, and he’s a painter and photographer. And apparently married to a crazy lady who is draining the life out of him, and trying to get the last of his money. Like a lot of people seem to be in Hollywood. Even the animals in Hollywood are unhappy with their love life, and if you ever want to see the kind of woman that drains a man of his funds while he’s dying of cancer, you can either go out to the Sunset Strip, or find a clip of Sam Kinison and watch the pain in his eyes.
