I’m apparently the Manolith recall dude. The guy ensuring consumers are fully aware of their bogus or busted products. While the recent auto recalls may be filed into the category of annoyance, this recall has much more to do with immediate safety measures.
Unfortunately, there is really nothing funny to say about this.
New parents have to love all the new, trendy ways to carry their newborns: Slings, bjorns, joggers, buggies. Not only are the slings and bjorns trendy, they save your arms, back and hips from a load of stress. Unfortunately, a few have been linked to infant deaths.
Infantino has issued a recall on all of their SlingRider and Wendy Bellissimo infant slings due to the possibility that they played a part in the suffocation deaths of three infants. They are soft fabric slings, and infants simply can’t remove fabric from their air passages. The nature of the fabric is to flex and fold, and thus any infant lacking the development of their motor skills would simply get tangled, or could suffocate while sleeping.
If you own one of these slings, which were sold in the United States and Canada from 2003-2010, you can contact Infantino for a safe, replacement product. Do not try and modify the one you have–get a new one courtesy of the company.
