Restaurants To Finally Display Calorie Count

By Mark Lorenz on March 23rd, 2010

This is just one of the changes in the ZOMGZ ARMAGEDDON HEALTH BILL.

Have you ever wondered what’s in the food you’re eating, but don’t want to be terrified? Then never, ever watch Food Inc. I made that mistake today, and I still can’t stop weeping. But weirdly enough, the health care bill that was just signed might actually be able to help you with finding out what exactly you’re eating.

Between working in restaurants and watching terrifying documentaries about food, you realize that you know little to nothing about what you’re actually putting in your body. We’re all just mouth-agape at the glory hole waiting for sustenance. While the hippies running up and down Venice have life figured out. Life, minus bathing. You know how many calories are in the cake at the Cheesecake Factory? Roughly 1200. It’s the equivalent of eating a meal of cake. Which you all should do, just to make Jamie Oliver’s head explode.

But one of the immediate effects of the health care bill passing will be that 200,000 chain restaurants will be required to display health information about the food that they’re serving. The only time I’ve ever seen health information displayed that was entirely shocking was when I went to Rock N’ Roll McDonald’s a week ago.

It was so not Rock N’ Roll. More disturbing. Like the Zapruder film in my mouth.
