Nobody Likes Plus-Sized Models

By Mark Lorenz on March 22nd, 2010

In news that is shocking to no-one with a brain, two functioning eyes, and a rational mind, plus-sized women don’t make other women happy. In other words, nothing will make women happy until they see themselves on the cover of magazines.

The world of high fashion is a weird, weird world. With photographers like Terry Richardson using their contacts to score tail they wouldn’t have access to otherwise, designs that are fun to look at but basically not wearable, and the recent trend of plus-sized models – you don’t really know what’s en vogue or out, but you know some interesting people are making the decisions.

And recently, in an effort to banish the bad body images women have of themselves, more plus-sized women have been used in campaigns, specifically, the Real Beauty campaign by Dove. Which is silly, because in other countries Dove sells skin whitening cream so everyone can look like white people. Cause us whities are sooooo hot.

A recent study revealed that larger women feel better about themselves when no models are featured, average-size women have LOWER self-esteem after seeing plus-sized models, and tiny people like tiny models. The only time plus-sized models made average-sized women feel good was when they were paired with weight loss ads.

I have no words. I still love you, plus-sized models. Because you be sexy.
