Titanic Getting A Re-Release….In 3D

By Mark Lorenz on March 15th, 2010

If you couldn’t stand the thought of not watching Titanic on the big screens ever again, there is hope for you. And it’s not in the form of a twelve-step program. More in the form of James Cameron shooting a giant 3D ship into your eyes and ears.

Titanic was aptly named, as it was once of the biggest movies of all time, and launched the careers of Kate Winslet and Leonardo DiCaprio into the stratosphere. It grossed over a billion dollars, and kicked teeny-bopping culture got kicked into overdrive. It also was written like a daytime soap opera. In a boat. But people love it, so James Cameron, in order to firmly demonstrate that he is once again on top of the world, and has stolen his business model from George Lucas, will be re-releasing Titanic in theaters nationwide, to celebrate the 100 year anniversary of the disaster.

The kicker? It’s going to be released in 3D. I have no idea what kind of technology they will use to make a 2D movie into 3D, but I pray they don’t just limit the technology to Blockbuster-circa 1996.

I want to watch Point Break in 3D. Before the world ends and they re-release Titanic to the theaters in 2012. Which may or may not coincide with each other. I’m not sure yet.
