John Krasinski In The Lead For Captain America Role

With the recent onslaught of comic book movies coming on the horizon, it’s good that they’re considering non-traditional casting of roles. John Krasinski is in the lead to be cast as Captain America.

This is fantastic news for fans of The Office, of which, Krasinski has been the resident heartthrob for over six years now, wooing audience members and by extension most of Hollywood. Sources reveal that he’s been in for four screen-tests, and is in the front-running. Which is good. I think we’re all wary of superhero movies where American superheroes get outsourced to Australians, like what’s going to happen with Thor.

Captain America was conceived of around 1941, and the first issue featured a particularly epic drawing of the Captain punching Hitler in the jaw. It’s a property of Marvel Comics, who look to be adapting every single one of their properties into movies soon, with Captain America joining Iron Man, Spiderman and The Avengers on the silver screen.

Krasinski also recently appeared in Jimmy Kimmel’s “Handsome Men’s Club,” a gathering of physically-gifted men from all manners of popular media, where he was the only one assisting the hapless talk show host who was completely out of place.

Provided the screenplay isn’t completely lame, this could turn out to be one of the better adaptations of a superhero movie.
