And it’s just as professional looking as it sounds.
If you’re one of the people who enjoyed watching Showgirls, the first one, you are probably in my direct group of friends. Because the movie was incredible. If you ever wanted to see Jessie Spano naked, talk smack about other women’s vaginas and have really crazy pool sex, that’s the top of the mountain. And it should’ve won at least 12 Academy Awards for being timeless and memorable. At the bare minimum. They should’ve invented another set of awards to commemorate the film, because it has moved me so much beyond the normal realm of cinema.
Thankfully, Germans recognize brilliance where we do not. So a German director, Marc Vorlander, has vowed to make a sequel. A sequel that promises to focus on all the right things. AND I QUOTE:
“Hope’s brother’s search for revenge following the stripper’s death from a dose of contaminated cocaine.”
Hope was just a tertiary character in the first film. But that doesn’t really matter. Because they’re making Showgirls II. More rampant violence, crazy sex, drugs, and late-night viewings on Cinemax. More fun times with ironic hipsters watching movies that are really terrible and cherishing them as much as humanly possible. More, more, more.
