Hummer Is Closing Down

Picture-2

How bad is the economy? Apparently assholes have stopped buying giant cars. Are you convinced this is the end of days yet? Well, you should be.

I never in my life thought there’d be a time where you could look out over the vast wasteland of the suburbs and not see someone in a Hummer cruising the streets for big-haired women. I’ve never thought I’d see the day where Entourage’s douchebaggery seemed slightly dated. But now it will be. If you need any more evidence that the economy is depressed, and so are Americans, and so are American car manufacturers, here it is. No longer will you see giant gas-guzzling party wagons taking teenagers to prom, or guidos to their next stop on their “there’s something in my drink” world tour.

GM is in deep, and unless someone volunteers to buy the Hummer brand, they’re sunk. They offered themselves up to Chinese manufacturers, but even Chinese manufacturers hate the Hummer brand. They think it makes their penises look small.

Hummer sales peaked in 2006, much like Paris Hilton. Appropriately, they’re both spiraling downhill at the same time. So if you’re interested in buying a douchey car company, call their spokesman, John Smith.

Literally, call John Smith.

Completely lame article, No I don't like Hummers but they are going down because the Fed owns GM and wants it as a symbol of waste to die. sO even before the fade was over (although now it is) they advertising stopped, and development. Hummer had a high milage model in the pipes that the government asked GM to drop because it would interfere with their propaganda of using Hummer for a symbol. It could not do to have a Hummer that got 25 mpg. It's not like SUV's are not selling and many other over priced gas hog vehicles continue to sell well too like trucks. Hummer was a fade for the rich and insecure. Like many other fads it lived its short life for the shallow and conspicuous and they have moved on to the next thing. The flex fuel and hybrid that does not actually get better gas milage but is the cool thing for the in crowd. The same people who buy (and still won their Hummers) will move on to the next look at me fade and it too will last a few years then something else. Meanwhile most normal people will continue to buy the car that is practical based on their personal needs and lifestyle and keep them for 5-8 years unlike the wealthy who go through cars like two year renewals on their cell phones.
