Viacom to Pull The Daily Show and The Colbert Report Off Hulu

jon stewart daily show huluWell Hulu.com just got a lot less relevant. Viacom announced that it plans to pull the two most popular shows on the site –- The Daily Show with Jon Stewart and The Colbert Report. Talks between Viacom and Hulu broke down recently, and Viacom decided to yank all Comedy Central content from the site. This is a serious blow to Hulu, but Stewart and Colbert fans can still get their fix of each show on TheDailyShow.com and ColbertNation.com. Good luck trying to embed that shit though. Comedy Central’s got one of the worst video players I’ve ever seen.

But I digress. Viacom likely realizes that if so many people are willing to hit up Hulu to get their fix of The Daily Show and The Colbert Report, then most of these web watchers would also be willing to visit the Comedy Central site. Makes sense from a business standpoint. Why divert all that traffic when you can cut out the other source and inflate your own site views. Still sucks though. And Hulu knows it, too.

If you enjoy experiencing these shows on Hulu.com, get your fill before midnight on March 9. That’s the last time you’ll see Stewart and Colbert on Hulu.
