Do you drive a Nissan? What about their luxury line, Infinity?
RECALL!
This recall-fever has become so absurd, I just had to Netflix the Schwarzenegger classic, “Total Recall,” last week.
Joining its competitors, Toyota and General Motors, in the penalty box, Nissan has announced a recall to affect 540,000 vehicles due to braking and fuel gauge issues. The two issues are non-related, and in all fairness, fuel gauge issues are what you hope for when your vehicle is recalled. However, the recent ball-dropping by some manufacturers in the realm of quality and safety is just another log on the fire of curiosity.
The Nissan braking issue is caused by a faulty brake pin in the pedal. The pin may become loose, and disallow the driver to experience “normal braking activity.” You know, normal–like stopping at a red light? No, no. Let me not mislead the public like so-many-a-car-salesmen have in the past. The brake pin issue would simply make the brake pedal slightly unstable, and perhaps cause it to wobble.
The Nissan vehicles in need of a little braking attention were manufactured between 2005-2008, and include: the Nissan Titan pickup trucks, the Infiniti QX56, Nissan Armada SUV and the Nissan Quest Minivan. The faulty fuel gauges will be fixed in the Titan, QX56 and Armada models from 2005-2008, as well as certain Frontier trucks, such as the Pathfinder and Xterra SUVs.
Preaching social responsibility, I must commend Nissan for making the recall before any accidents have been reported relating to the issues. We all know that running out of gas while going uphill can often lead to inopportune defecation.
