Dracula, for one, was no ugly dood, and he's the most famous vampire of all time (of all time!) -- him or Sesame Street's The Count (another handsome doll) I'd guess. Point is, outside a few obscure references (i.e. random one-episode Buffy vampires), history is more on the side of Team Edward than, say, Team Nosferatu.
