Germany, You Are Not My Friend.

By James Melzer on February 11th, 2010

nazizombies-1Gone are the days when the Germans were out for blood in the form of another human being. No more camps, gas, torture or mad scientist experiments. Yes, they’ve come a long way since being ruled by a son of a bitch.

Now they just kill dogs.

After being spooked by fireworks on New Years Eve, 65-year-old Heidi Schwank’s Australian Shepherd, Robby, ran away in Hamburg, Germany. Two days later she gets a call from the police to say that a motorist had hit and killed Robby while he was crossing the street. Poor little guy. Grief stricken Schwank then found out that the cops had lied to her, and that it was actually them that ran down her nine-year-old friend.

Bastards!

Seems that Robby was running amuck on the A1 autobahn, and four officers in two cars spent over an hour slowing down vehicles trying to capture him. When that proved unsuccessful, they got in their cruisers and started playing Frogger, until one of them struck and killed the dog. After a quick high-five, they found that Robby had caused $3,500 worth of damage to the one cruiser, and promptly sent the bill to his owner.

Now, I’m no card carrying member of PETA or anything, but I love animals just as much as the next guy. Running down a dog because you couldn’t capture him? C’mon, Germany. Surely you jest. I mean, the dog was Australian. It’s not like he posed a threat.

Heidi has since hired a lawyer and is out for justice, which she’ll probably get. Hopefully that’ll teach those dirty cops a lesson. Although something tells me that they’ll be out on the streets with a magnifying glass frying ants in no time.

Come on buddy, seriously? You're going to condemn a whole country based on the alleged acts of a few? What country are you from? Are you British? Perhaps we should start with 'gone are the days that the British eradicated whole civilizations..' or American: 'gone are they days when America would enslave whole peoples for the gain of a few...' British, American, Australian, Canadian...where ever you are from, maybe you should look at your own population and see if it is fair to generalize everyone because of the stupid acts of a few.

Hi Mike, Just to let you know this. Everything is reported in some form or other of the news, in every country in the world, where have you been? Not everyone in the whole wide world has to agree with everything written, published or viewed on the internet or T.V. News is news whether read or watched. Get with the program! Don't chastise the author, he is just making a living.I thought the article was pretty well written and I enjoyed reading it. When I read that article, I did not take it in the same you did. Does that mean I am stupid?, by no means. It just means that there are people out there that sees news and read magazine articles and view articles on the internet with a different point of view then yours.

Wow. Some people take things way too seriously...*coughMikecough* In other news, I think what the cops did in this situation was just sick. I know if someone shot my dog in that type of situation, I'd sue their gunhappy asses off. Because I'm an American, and that's what Americans do. ;)

M Duhamel, I appreciate your insight into how news is reported everywhere in the world. Thank you. As someone who consumes news, just like you, I also have the right to analyze, interpret and respond to what is written with my own free willed opinion. I'm glad I live in a country as wonderful as Canada that allows me to do that. I was simply questioning the need to condemn a whole country based on the stupid acts of a few. Perhaps this was done in jest, and I can appreciate that, but I don't think that makes it right. So, my apologies if I insulted your intelligence by opining, but I hope you can respect my right to provide an opinion on something that I disagree with. In reference to the core of the article, the cops were jerks, and I hope Heidi gets the compensation she deserves. Also, as an animal lover, I am very appreciative of the author bringing this barbarism to everyone's attention. I hope the German authorities act responsibility and prosecute these meatheads.

Well Thank You Mike, It is a little thing that we called free speech. So your apologies are graciously accepted, but always remember though that the author has the same right as you or I have to voice his or her own opinion as well.
