The popular British designer Alexander McQueen reportedly committed suicide and was found dead in his home Thursday afternoon. A statement issued by McQueen’s family has since been released to the public:
“At this stage it is inappropriate to comment on this tragic news beyond saying that we are devastated and are sharing a sense of shock and grief with Lee’s family. Lee’s family has asked for privacy in order to come to terms with this terrible news and we hope the media will respect this.”
McQueen, who was gearing up to unveil his new line for Fashion Week in Paris, received worldwide press attention after his friend and mentor Isabella Blow, committed suicide in 2007. No connection has been between the two deaths and investigators aren’t classifying the case as suspicious.
